The Order of the Black Knights are a group of vigilante rebels who fight against the Eltguardian Empire. Founded by Noctis Vi Valden and Niram Katoch, they define themselves as the "Heroes of Elturgard", and differentiate themselves from other groups. Their logo is a Swallow Sigil (The Sigil of Noctis's younger sister Euphemia) with a sword through it.

- Noctis Vi Valden: The exiled Crown Prince of Elturgard who became the Cheiftain of the Rangers of the North. (Deceased)
- Niram Katoch: Second son of the Marquis of Cloakwood who was the Guardian Protector of Noctis.
- Roderick Snow: Former Mercenary who originally met the group during a mission to save his cousins.
- Daveric Diero: Swashbuckler who was taken in by the Rangers and became Noctis's best friend.
- Shakira Quan: Wizard of the Third Order who randomly met the group while fighting orcs in the forest. (Deceased)
- Sol Vox Sylvas: Prince of Emon and gunslinging renegade, Sol met the group in a tavern and joined them to help save his older sister Princess Lunelia Nox Sylvas

- Princess Lunelia Nox Sylvas: Princess of Emon and Oracle of the Celestials, Luna is a childhood friend to Noctis and Niram.
- Sysaeimus Veneers: Guardian Protector of Luna, Sysa is always ready to protect the realm and has high hopes for the Black Knights.
- Xeronious Garmstrom: Former mercenary, but now Captain of the Princess Personal Guard who befriended the members before the creation of the Black Knights.
- Smoogle: A roguish goblin who was originally captured by Xeronious, but eventually became a great friend and ally of Xero and the Princess.
- Priest: Former Cheiftain of the Rangers of the North who saved both Noctis and Daveric while out on patrol. Once Priest left the Rangers in the hands of Noctis, he went on to help form Chronos. It was Priest who brought them into the Chronos Numbers.
- Sybell: A Swashbuckling maiden who was once part of Daveric's crew. After fate brought them together again she was forced to join on their adventure.
- Righty: A slow but loyal man, who loved the open sea and always wished for adventure. Eventually finding the Captain Daveric, Righty never looked back. (deceased)
- Lefty: Righty's older brother who join Righty to watch over him. His path led him and his brother to Captain Daveric Diero.While not originally caring for adventure, his loyalty to his brother and Daveric changed his perspective.
